Swim course

75 kilometres from the capital, surrounded by holm-oak woods, oak-woods and pine woods, located in the Lozoya Valley, in the middle of the North Mountain Range (“Sierra Norte”), there is one of the most enchanting and attractive touristic areas of the region of Madrid: Buitrago de Lozoya.

The distance to be covered by triathletes in the Buitrago de Lozoya Reservoir is of 3.800 metres. In this facility, transition area T1 will be set up, as the starting line for the bicycle race.

Swimming segment course: Riosequillo reservoir, Buitrago de Lozoya, 3.800 metres.

Bike course

The bicycle race will cross fabulous locations in the Madrilenian Sierra, and goes through the famous tour of the mountain passes with the ascents to Canencia, Morcuera and Cotos. In general terms, the 170 km course will go through the following locations:

Starting line at swimming facilities of Canal de Isabel II in Buitrago de Lozoya, passing through Villavieja de Lozoya (km6), San Mamés (km 9,9), Gargantilla (km 13,7), Canencia village (km 22,8), Canencia Mountain Pass (km 32,3), Miraflores de la Sierra (km 38,4), Morcuera Mountain Pass (km 49,1), Rascafría (km 63,4), Cotos Mountain Pass (Km 79,9), Navacerrada Mountain Pass (km 86,4), Fuente del Ventorrillo, El Escorial, Valdemorillo, Villanueva de la Cañada, entering Madrid through M-508 road, crossing Casa de Campo and arriving at Explanada del Rey in Madrid Río.

T2 transition area will be set up at Explanada del Rey in Madrid Río, point from which the Marathon will start.

Run course

Triathletes must cover a total of 42 km and 195 metres.

After leaving the bicycle at Explanada del Rey in Madrid Río, triathletes will approach the river zone and start the foot race. The course is 5 laps and two transitions, and passes almost totally through Madrid River area (“Madrid Río”). The foot race, in the last transition, will finish with the ascent to the Cuesta de la Vega, before incorporating itself to Mayor Street, and entering the Puerta del Sol with the arrival at “Km 0”, where the Finishing line will be situated.
