INTRODUCTION

The IV CHALLENGE MADRID is a non-official triathlon sport event, open to federated and non-federated participants; National and international standards, governed by the rules of the law and by the guiding Principles emanating from the ITU.

The race will be subject to this Regulation and, for the bicycle segment, the provisions of articles 1 to 14 of annex II of Royal Decree 1428/2003, of November 21, which approves the General Circulation Regulations for the application and development of the articulated text of the Law on traffic, circulation of motor vehicles and road safety, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 339/1990, of March 2 and other regulations in force that are applicable.

The organization reserves the right to make changes in the present regulations if it considers it, being communicated through the web to the participants.

DISTANCES

The three parts of Challenge Madrid Large Distance and Relays are:

  • Swimming: 3.800 meters in the San Juan Lake (Pelayos de la Presa).
  • Cycling: 180 km with the starting line at San Juan Lake (Pelayos de la Presa) and arrival at Paseo Casa de Campo (Pozuelo de Alarcón).
  • Foot race: 42 km y 195 meters from the starting line at Casa de Campo (Madrid) and the finishing line at Puerta del Sol.

 

The three parts of Challenge Madrid Middle Distance and Relays are:

  • Swimming: 1.900 meters in the San Juan Lake (Pelayos de la Presa).
  • Cycling: 90 km with the starting line at the San Juan Lake (Pelayos de la Presa) and arrival at Paseo Casa de Campo (Pozuelo de Alarcón).
  • Foot race: 21 km y 975 meters from the starting line at Casa de Campo (Madrid) and the finishing line at Puerta del Sol.

 

The cancellations or modifications of the circuits or any of their parts caused by causes beyond the organization, do not imply in any case the refund of the registration fee.

In the event of weather or major causes involving the modification of part or all of a segment of the race, the organization may propose an alternative race over another distance and other routes depending on the circumstances (duathlon, aquathlon, foot race, etc.), but in no case the event will be postponed to another date nor will it imply the reimbursement of the amounts of the inscriptions to the participants.

The organization may agree to suspend the race, either temporarily or permanently, when there are circumstances beyond the will and control of the organization or governmental measures that affect the general safety or freedom of movement of people. In case of permanent suspension, participants will not have the right to reimbursement of registration fees, but will have preference in the allocation of bibs for the next edition if they re-enroll.

REGISTRATIONS, FEES AND CONDITIONS

The registration is personal and non-transferable and represents the acceptance of these Regulations.

The fees and conditions are set down in the section on Registrations/Prices. A registration is considered complete when payment has been made.

Reservations are not accepted. Registrations without payment will not be processed.

The payment can only be made online with a credit card through the secure payment gateway proposed by the organization on the official website and within the time frames indicated by the organization.

The organization reserves the right of admission.

PARTICIPATION

The participation in Challenge Madrid long and medium distance and relays is open to athletes of any nationality, federated or not, born in 2001 and earlier, therefore, it is not obligatory to be in possession of a triathlon license in force for 2019 approved or authorized by a National triathlon Federation.

Each participant takes part in the events as an individual under his/her own responsibility, having an enough level of physical condition and technical capacity to complete each segment within the cut off times established by the organization.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE
Challenge Madrid, as an organizing entity, has accident insurance for the participants that contains the benefits of the compulsory sports insurance regulated in Royal decree 849/1993 of 4 June.

For all those participants who are federated, and so demonstrate in their enrollment and the day of the allocation of bibs, the organization will assume the cost of their day sports insurance.

For all those participants who are not federated must sign a day license with the sports insurance provided by the organization, being the cost of this €15 that must be paid at the time of registration.

DECLARATION OF RESPONSABILITY

Any person wishing to participate, individually or by relays, in Challenge Madrid Long and Middle Distance, will be at their own risk and responsibility. In this sense, the participant must provide the organization with a responsible declaration according to the attached model.

The responsible declaration must be:

  1. Sent to the ATTENTION OFFICE of the TRIATLETA: att.triatleta@challenge-madrid.com
  2. Delivered at the time of collecting the bib number.

If the triathlete does not provide the responsible declaration when the bib number is being collected, the triathlete will not be able to take part in the IV Challenge Madrid.

ATHLETES REGISTRATION/DORSAL COLLECTION

All registered participants must present their ID (Personal Identification Document) or Passport when they register for the event. They must also present the licence emitted by their corresponding National Triathlon Federation, valid for the year of the event. (Those triathletes whose Federation does not issue them with a membership card, must present a certificate issued by their Federation stating that said athlete is Federated).

In the case of not having a membership card or certificate the athlete will have to pay for a Single Event Permit / One Day Insurance in cash, when they do the registration on line.

The bibs will be collected at Plaza de Toros de San Martín de Valdeiglesias on September 21, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

WAVE STARTS AND SWIMMING

Fort the Long Distance, wave starts for the following categories will be given from 07:45 to 08:15:

  1. 7:45 Male Elite
  2. 7:55 Female Elite
  3. 8:00 Male Age Groups
  4. 8:05 Female Age Groups
  5. 8:15 Relays

Fort the Middle Distance, wave starts for the following categories will be given from 12:45 to 13:05:

  1. 12:45 Male Elite
  2. 12:50 Female Elite
  3. 12:55 Male Age Groups
  4. 13:00 Female Age Groups
  5. 13:05 Relays

Triathletes must also:

  • Pass the starting line control in their call room, before beginning the swimming segment.
  • Wear the swimming cap provided by the Organization, the identification number on the arm, and the assigned chip for the register of the event. This chip will be worn on an ankle during the whole competition. At the end of the competition, the participant must turn over said chip.
  • No warming up in the starting line area, nor in any part of the swimming segment course.

The Organization will permit the use of neoprene suits in accordance with the temperature tables of the Spanish Triathlon Federation. The Technical Delegate will take the decision one (1) hour before the start of the competition. For more information consult: Spanish Triathlon Federation Regulations 2019.

Participants of 50 years or more are allowed to wear a wetsuit regardless of the water temperature.

CUT OFF TIMES

There will be cut off times for swimming, other points for cycling and at T2. There will also be a cut off time at the finishing line. For the bike segment, these times are being agreed upon with the Guardia Civil and will be published at least 30 days before the closing of the inscriptions.

In the bike segment, any participant who is overtaken by the “race closing” broom vehicle, the green flag shall be considered out of the race and must deliver the bib number and chip, making use of the cars authorized by the organization for transfer to T2.

The participant who does not wish to use the cars authorized for transfer to T2 will (except in the sector of the M-501 that is obligatory its use), under his/her responsibility, be a normal user of the public roads and if he/she decides to continue in the road, he/she must scrupulously respect the rules of the road because they will be out of the race and the security and legal coverages of the organization.

OBSERVATION OF THE REGULATION

Challenge Madrid, for the fulfillment of this regulation, as well as of the current sporting regulations that it competes, will have a team of technical officers directed by the technical delegate appointed expressly for this purpose.

The time control will be done electronically by using chip.

EQUIPMENT FOR THE PARTICIPANT

Each participant will receive from the Organization a bag containing:

  • A swimming cap (1).
  • Participant’s identification number.
  • Stickers with the participant’s number, 2 for the helmet and 1 for the bicycle and one wardrobe (to put in the personal bag that will contain the clothes that carry the day of the test before the departure of swim and that the organization will take care of taking to T2).
  • Bags with the participant’s identification number (3). One for the cycling equipment (Bike Bag, To leave by the athlete himself on T1 at the time of the check in bike), another for the running equipment (run bag, to leave in T1 when making the check in bike and that the organization is in charge of taking to T2), and another for Special Refreshment. (Will be delivered by the triathlete on T1 on the day of the test when picking up the chip.)
  • Identification wrist band (1).
  • A chip and a band for wearing on the ankle (it will be delivered in T1 when doing the check in bike and must be returned to the organization in T2 when picking up the bike once the test is finished).
  • Pasta Party ticket (1).
  • Backpack (1).

ANTI-DOPING CONTROL

By indication of the Spanish Agency for the Protection of health in sport se will be able to carry out doping controls to the participants of the Full Distance that have finished in positions eligible for money prizes. Likewise, anti-doping controls could be affected by raffle on any other participant in each distance.

In all matters related to doping control, the applicable state regulations in this matter will apply.

Registration implies consent by the triathletes to subject themselves to such anti-doping controls.

SECURITY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

Restricted areas will be controlled by security guards from the organization and will only be accessible upon presentation of the participant’s wrist band or the corresponding accreditation.

Medical services provided by the organization along the course are authorized to withdraw any participant for medical reasons.

Any emergency vehicle that must use the bicycle course for circulation will be so allowed, indicating its position with luminous signals and sirens. In all cases the vehicle will have priority over the triathletes, who must give way to the vehicle.

AID STATIONS

BIKE SEGMENT

Long distance:

Aid stations will be provided during the race. The location of these will be reflected in the triathlete’s guide.
The long-distance triathletes, who so wish, may leave the organization in T1 the same day of the race (September 22) a bag with special supplies (with their race number) that will be transported by the organization to the aid station located at km 135.

Middle distance:

Aid stations will be provided during the race. The location of these will be reflected in the triathlete’s guide.
The middle-distance triathletes will not have the possibility of special supplies during the bike segment.

 

RUN SEGMENT

Long distance:

Aid stations will be provided during the race. The location of these will be reflected in the triathlete’s guide.

SPECIAL SUPPLIES. In the aid station 5 (POWERADE area) a delimited area will be set up so that the triathletes can receive a special refreshment by a technician, relative, friend, etc., and this must be notified in advance to the organization. DOCUMENT DOWNLOAD

SPECIAL CONDITIONS RELAYS

The participation by relays can be in masculine, feminine or mixed teams of 2 or 3 components.

Each team will have a swimming cup, a chip and a bib.

The relays must pass the chip and the bib number and must wait for their teamate to arrive within the transition area. The baton is given giving the number and the chip to the teamate.

From the start of the competition to crossing the finish line, the chip must be carried by the member of the team that is competing; always in the ankle, so the relay is passed handing the chip to the teamate.

Both the collection of numbers and check-in can be done by a single component of the team as long as it shows all the identification material (bicycle with bib, helmet with labels, swimming cup, bib, bracelet and chip). For the collection of bibs must prove the status of federated their colleagues if they signed up as such.

The access to the transition zone of the components of each team can be done by the zones enabled by the organization showing the identification bracelet to the control personnel and they must wait for the relay in the area enabled for their bicycle within the zones T1 and T2.

195 meters before the finish line, the Organization will enable a space for the team members who have made the first two segments (swimming and cycling) to make the finish line next to the last relay (run on foot) of your team.

The member of the team that only make the swim segment can use the transfers of the organization to travel from T1 to T2.

PUBLICATION LIST OF PARTICIPANTS

Challenge Madrid U.T.E. will publish the list of participants at the close of registrations.

REFUND POLICY

Full Distance and Relay

If you pay the cancellation insurance of 50€:

You can cancel your registration until 31th of July of 2019 and you will receive the 100% of the amount paid (the 50€ of the cancellation insurance and 7,53% administrative cost will never be refunded)

If you don’t pay the cancellation insurance of 50€:

  • Until 31st of May, you will receive the 75% of the amount paid
  • Until 30th of June, you will receive the 50% of the amount paid
  • Until 31st of July, you will receive the 25% of the amount paid
  • No refund from of July 31st onwards.

(the 7,53% administrative cost will never be refunded)

If you want to cancel your registration you do not need to give explanations nor medical certificate. Only you need send us an email to info@challenge-madrid.com.

It is not possible to transfer your inscription to another starter, race or for the next year.

Middle Distance and Relay

If you pay the cancellation insurance of 30€:

You can cancel your registration until 31th of July of 2019 and you will receive the 100% of the amount paid (the 50€ of the cancellation insurance and 7,53% administrative cost will never be refunded)

If you don’t pay the cancellation insurance of 30€:

  • Until 31st of May, you will receive the 75% of the amount paid
  • Until 30th of June, you will receive the 50% of the amount paid
  • Until 31st of July, you will receive the 25% of the amount paid
  • No refund from of July 31st onwards.

(the 7,53% administrative cost will never be refunded)

ASSIGNMENT IMAGE RIGHTS

The transfer of operating rights to CHALLENGE MADRID U.T.E. on audiovisual recordings, photographs and on the broadcasts, transmissions and / or retransmissions of the CHALLENGE MADRID event and of the participants in it, will be exclusive worldwide, with exclusive right of assignment to third parties, according to the maximum time permit the Intellectual Property Law and for all rights of recording, public communication, reproduction, distribution and transmission, and by any technical means, system or format expressly included, in an enunciative and non-limiting manner, terrestrial transmission, both in digital and analogue, cable, satellite, and in general by any broadcasting, transmission and retransmission procedure, and under any broadcast system, open television, coded, pay-tv, pay-per-view, video on demand, video near on demand, videocassette, laserdisc, videodisc, CDI, CDI-DV, CDRom, DVD, domestic video, mobile telephone, internet and multimedia systems in any format and, in general, by any type of exploitation known or may be known in the future.

On the basis of the above, CHALLENGE MADRID U.T.E. will be the owner of all exploitation rights, in any modality of exploitation, in full and / or partial, of the images and photographs produced of the event and its participants.
